The first in a trilogy of feature-rich slot games

Industry leading casino software provider Microgaming launched their much anticipated slot game, "Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship" on September 2nd, 2010. Commissioned under licence from Warner Bros, the game features the new Microgaming concept dubbed Cinematic Spins, integrating footage from the first film in the LOTR trilogy.

The slot game features 243 paylines - a feature known to fans of IGT slots as "Multiway" - and has both stacked wilds and a free spins bonus which is trigerred when three Rings appear anywhere in view. In vision behind the reels, the player is treated to sequences from the movie The Fellowship Of The Ring in a unique experience which some players are already reporting makes them feel dizzy. Overall though, early reports suggest that the game is being well received by players.

Microgaming have secured a licence to develop 3 Lord Of The Rings slot games - one corresponding with each of the three movies - although it is unclear at this time as to when the second and third Lord Of The Rings games will appear and how they will be formatted. The first LOTR ("LOTR Fellowship") game is already available at all Microgaming casinos both as a Flash "Instant Play" product and as part of the download casino which now constitutes over 450 games. In addition, Microgaming have also licenced the game to Bet365 and Virgin for inclusion in their Instant Play games suites.

Coincidentally, Microgaming's LOTR slot game comes hot on the heels of a land-based version from WMS Gaming which was launched in July 2010 and is currently available at selected casinos throughout the USA. As you would expect, the WMS version bears similarities in graphical representation and in sounds but uses the "Adaptive Gaming" concept, first seen in the "Star Wars" slot game, meaning each player's progress in the game can be monitored via the Internet.
