One of the older slots on the Playtech platform, Desert Treasure is still one of my favourite games when I am feeling in a low variance mood (ie: there's not much money in my bank!) along with the similarly low variance A Night Out slot. Both slots have a tendency to be quite generous and as long as you set your sights low, you can come away with a profit quite regularly. It has a free spins bonus (10 at 3x) which can retrigger and is trigerred by 3 or more scatters in view, along with a somewhat average "pick 'em" style bonus round which is thrown in every now and again. Don't expect much more than 5 or 6x from the latter, but the free spins can do some damage and even regular gameplay throws up regular decent wins. If you haven't played Desert Treasure, I'd suggest giving it a whirl.

In December 2011 Playtech also released an updated version of Desert Treasure, titled Desert Treasure 2 somewhat unimaginatively! This follow-up again has two bonus rounds but the free spin feature is 15 spins at 2x. It looks a bit better than the original but I'm yet to be convinced it's a better slot. Playtech slots like the Great Blue slot, are well worth a look if you like high variance - totally the opposite of the Desert Treasure slot but if you play it carefully, it can get pretty exciting at times!
