I wouldn't argue that Playtech have done a generally amazing job with thier Marvel slots but I wouldn't agree that as far as gameplay goes, they are all good. The Elektra and Blade slot for example just don't cut it for me. But the Fantastic Four slot is another kettle of fish and is so original: I love it.

The free spin feature is the main draw here but before I get to that it is worth noting that Playtech have managed to get the balance right between entertainment and winning on Fantastic Four - even in normal gameplay you can get some pretty decent hits and quite regularly too. For someone who normally prefers high variance slots like Playtech's Great Blue slot or even Iron Man 2 from the Marvel series, Fantastic Four gives me something medium variance that hits the spot perfectly.

The free spin feature in fantastic Four is unique. You get 12 free spins (triggered by 3 or more scatters in view) and during the spins, the center reel contains blocks of the fantastic 4 characters. When these fill the reel - which normally happens an average of 3 times per feature I'd hazard a guess - you get 3 or 4 extra spins with a different feature. This can be expanding wilds, increasing multipliers, sticky wilds or a wild reel. The video above is the best way to describe it!

My favaourite mini-features in fantastic Four's free spin feature are the wild reel and sticky wilds (you only get 3 spins with sticky wilds as opposed to 4 with teh other mini-features). Those two normally pay best anyway! It's just such a good slot machine and I would probably put it in my Top 5 all-time favourite slots to be honest.

Worth mentioning that there are actually 2 versions of Fantastic Four depending on which casino you choose to play the game at. There is the normal 20-payline version which is thanfully the most common one and the one I prefer plus a lower variance 50-payline version. I don't know why but Playtech took this game, The Hulk slot and Iron man 2 and made different versions with more paylines which IMO just dumbs them down. With the Fantastic Four slot, at least you can reduce the paylines to 20 on the 50-payline version unlike with Iron Man 2.
