The Gladiator slot from Playtech is, in my opinion, the best online slot game to have ever come out. I thought nothing would rival the excellent Thunderstruck slot or IGT's landmark Cleopatra slot, but Playtech's Gladiator totally blew me away.

Like the other Playtech movie licenced slot game from Playtech (ie: the King Kong slot, or the fantastic The Mummy slot) the graphics (containing interspersed movie sequences from the film Gladiator) and the soundbites from the film are superb, but ultimately it's the gameplay that makes or breaks a slot. It seems like movie-slots are becoming the latest trend what with those two, IGT's excellent Star Trek slot and the MicrogamingLord Of The Rings slot now available.

The key to the Gladiator slot is the "Colosseum" bonus round, a traditionalfree spins bonus but with a twist. That 'twist' is an extra expanding scatter symbol (similar to Novomatic's Book Of Ra slot) and extra wild symbol but both are randomly awarded and not always guaranteed to happen on each bonus round. When you get the extra scatter, you can hit some really big wins. There is a second bonus round that is triggered by 3 wild symbols, but I won't spoil it beyond that.
